NC Planned Parenthood Enables Sex-Selection Abortions as it Denounces Them

Abortion Giant Uses Doublespeak to Protect Lucrative Business

Washington, D.C. – Following a response by Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina to a new video investigation showing abortion clinics in Raleigh and Chapel Hill advising women on how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of their baby girls because they want a boy instead, Live Action challenged the organization’s feigned denouncement of sex-selection abortion.  Live Action’s “Gendercide” project, with full, unedited videos at www.ProtectOurGirls.com, has now documented abortion clinics’ support for sex-selection at 8 clinics in 5 states.

“With gendercide’s impact reaching America and endangering thousands of unborn girls, Planned Parenthood’s facilitation of sex-selection abortion is deeply disturbing and hypocritical. Planned Parenthood publicly boasts that it cares about the rights of women, yet insists upon offering what are often brutal, late-term abortions that target unborn girls. The group is out of touch with what the majority of American women believe, and their double speak is clear: while claiming to condemns sex-selection, Planned Parenthood refuses to stop the lethal practice,” Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action.  “Planned Parenthood is determined to salvage every dollar out of as many abortions as possible, pursuing a radical abortion-first agenda, regardless of the reasons, as our videos show.  The abortion giant’s true abortion-first agenda becomes clear in its contradictory statements, especially as the state legislature is poised to vote on the budget that may defund the organization in North Carolina.

“Out of excuses, Planned Parenthood has resorted to lies.  While it claims to support women, the abortion leader refuses to end its participation in this violent and discriminatory practice.”

Planned Parenthood in North Carolina receives nearly $400,000 annually in taxpayer subsidies which Gov. Beverly Perdue has refused to cut.

Sex-selective abortion is legal in all but 4 states. This month, the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA), which would prohibit sex-selective abortions nationwide, was introduced in the Senate. Planned Parenthood claims to condemn sex-selective abortion, but in a statement last month, President and CEO Cecile Richards opposed PRENDA because it would “limit [a woman’s] choices.” Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of “missing girls” in the U.S. from sex-selective abortion. Worldwide, over 160 million girls are missing because of sex-selective abortion.

Live Action is a youth led movement dedicated to building a culture of life and ending the human rights abuse of abortion.  They use new media to educate the public about the humanity of the unborn and investigative journalism to expose threats against the vulnerable and defenseless.  More information at LiveAction.org.

NC Planned Parenthood and NAF Support Sex-Selective Abortion in Undercover Tapes

Abortion Industry Participates In Real War on Women Through

Search-And-Destroy Procedures on Little Girls

Raleigh, NC –Today, Live Action released new undercover footage showing a National Abortion Federation (NAF) clinic in Raleigh and a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Chapel Hill advising women on how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of their baby girls because they want a boy instead. Live Action’s “Gendercide” project has now documented abortion clinics’ support for sex-selection at 8 clinics in 5 states.  The latest footage is available at www.ProtectOurGirls.com.

In the video, a counselor at NAF member “A Woman’s Choice of Raleigh, Inc” refers a woman purportedly seeking a sex-selective abortion to an OB/GYN to confirm the gender of the baby with a diagnostic ultrasound. The counselor, “Jessica,” assures that the clinic will not have a conflict with performing a sex-selective procedure: “Your reasons are your reasons,” she says, “You know, it’s totally fine.” She also advises the woman to lie to her OB/GYN to cover her sex-selective abortion, counseling, “Just say that you had to go to the hospital and miscarried.”

At Planned Parenthood’s Chapel Hill abortion clinic, the nurse “Michelle” confirms the woman’s sex-selective motive: “It sounds like you, um, would like confirmation of the gender of the pregnancy, and um, depending on that, would, you know, kind of make the decision for you.” When the woman says she is 16 weeks’ pregnant, the Planned Parenthood nurse notes, “You know, there are, um, increased risks with the abortion procedure,” at that stage. But when the woman asks, “Can you tell me a little bit about that?” the nurse changes the subject back to procuring an accurate sex-selective abortion: “Well, I could, but, um, what I think would be more relevant is to give you some referrals to UNC OB/GYN because they have a very wonderful ultrasound department who can give you a detailed ultrasound, um, and do further testing” to be sure of the sex of the fetus. When the woman asks if she might ever face a denial of abortion services at Planned Parenthood if she wants to abort future girl pregnancies, the nurse reassures her, “We do not turn patients away who are seeking our services.”

“This latest footage again shows Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry’s callous disregard for the health of women – born and unborn,” says Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action. “Planned Parenthood and their abortion allies are waging the real war on women, and tax payers should not have to subsidize the abortion-first mentality that enables extreme gender discrimination, puts women’s health at risk, and destroys thousands of innocent lives.”

Planned Parenthood in North Carolina receives nearly $400,000 annually in taxpayer subsidies which Gov. Beverly Perdue has refused to cut.

Washington, D.C. – On the heels of a new video investigation showing two Planned Parenthood clinics, in Maui and Honolulu, advising a woman how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of her baby girl, Planned Parenthood has refused to acknowledge the problem as more video evidence by Live Action continues to surface. Planned Parenthood claims publicly to condemn sex-selective abortion but continues to provide it.  This week, a bill was introduced in the Senate to ban the practice.

Today, Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, blasted the abortion giant in a statement:

“Planned Parenthood is determined to salvage every dollar out of as many abortions as possible, regardless of the reasons.  The targeting of pre-born girls for often late-term, sex selective abortion is a growing problem in the United States, exacerbated by the fact that many women are coerced into these often late-term abortions.

“As the evidence has continued to mount, Planned Parenthood has run out of excuses.  While it claims to support women, the abortion leader refuses to end its participation in this violent and discriminatory practice.”

Yesterday’s video is the fourth in Live Action’s “Gendercide” project, documenting Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation’s support for sex-selective abortion in America. Footage for 6 different clinics in 4 different states can be viewed at www.ProtectOurGirls.com, a hub of research and information on sex-selective abortions.

Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of “missing girls” in the U.S. from sex-selective abortion. The U.K., India, Australia, and other countries ban sex-selective abortion, but the United States does not on a federal level.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action applauded Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) for this week introducing the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA), which would ban the brutal practice of sex-selective abortion.  A companion bill in the House sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) was brought to a vote in May.  The two bills were introduced amidst multiple undercover videos showing that the practice is growing at an alarming rate in the United States, which can be seen at www.ProtectOurGirls.com.

“We applaud Sen. Vitter for continuing the fight to ban sex-selective abortion and protect women from coercion and unborn girls from the most violent form of sex discrimination,” said Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action.  “Our latest videos showing Planned Parenthood clinic workers in Hawaii advising a woman how best to procure a sex-selective abortion reveal that this practice is not isolated, and that Planned Parenthood’s first priority is not the welfare of women or girls, but protecting their abortion business from any regulation.

“The companion bill in the House gained support from both sides of the aisle, and we hope the same will be true in the upper chamber.  We urge Senator Reid and Senate leadership to take up the bill and stop this real war on women.”

Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of “missing girls” in the U.S. from sex-selective abortion. The U.K., India, Australia, and other countries ban sex-selective abortion, but the U.S., save for three states, does not.

The most recent video in Live Action’s “Gendercide” project, documenting Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation’s support for sex-selective abortion in America, features two Planned Parenthood clinics in Hawaii advising a woman how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of her baby girl because she wants a boy instead, even recommending Hawaii’s medicaid program to pay for the sex selective abortion. Planned Parenthood claims publicly to condemn sex-selective abortion but continues to provide the service.

June 13, 2012 | Honolulu, HI – Live Action released new undercover footage today showing two Planned Parenthood clinics, in Maui and Honolulu, advising a woman how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of her baby girl because she wants a boy instead. Planned Parenthood claims publicly to condemn sex-selective abortion but continues to provide the service.

“If that’s, you know, if that’s what you wanna base your decision on–really–it’s up to you,” assures the Maui Planned Parenthood couselor, Leslie Watson, when a purportedly pregnant woman explains she wants an abortion because of the sex of the baby. Watson counsels the woman to be certain about the sex of her unborn child before going through with an abortion, telling her to seek an ultrasound from an OB/GYN and not to worry if they might judge a sex-selective abortion:

“This is your reason and this is your situation. So they should be accommodating because this can help you determine and it’s nobody’s business and nobody’s reason but yours.”

In Honolulu, the Planned Parenthood counselor “Rogue” tells the woman it is okay to have multiple abortions of girl pregnancies so long as the abortions are spaced far enough apart. The Planned Parenthood counselor suggests paying for the abortions using Hawaii’s QUEST state health insurance. “So if I wanted to terminate a girl the government would pay for it?” asks the woman. “They don’t care,” the Planned Parenthood counselor replies.

Today’s video is the fourth in Live Action’s “Gendercide” project, documenting Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation’s support for sex-selective abortion in America. Footage for 6 different clinics in 4 different states can be viewed at www.ProtectOurGirls.com, a hub of research and information on sex-selective abortions.

“This latest footage shows Planned Parenthood’s abortion-first mentality deployed in the service of a search-and-destroy mission against pre-born girls,” says Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action.  “Sex-selective abortion is a prime example of how Planned Parenthood’s abortion empire is the real war on women. And in Hawaii and many other states, taxpaying Americans who are overwhelmingly opposed to sex-selective abortion foot the bill.”

Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of “missing girls” in the U.S. from sex-selective abortion. The U.K., India, Australia, and other countries ban sex-selective abortion, but the U.S., save for three states, does not. The House of Representatives recently took up the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA), which would ban sex-selective abortions nationally. Planned Parenthood’s CEO Cecile Richards opposed PRENDA  in a statement on the grounds that it would “limit [a woman’s] choices.”

AZ Abortion Clinics Break Law to Abort Baby Girls in New Undercover Video

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PHOENIX, June 6 — Live Action released undercover footage today showing two National Abortion Federation (NAF) clinics in Arizona agreeing to break state law and perform an illegal sex-selective abortion. Today’s video is the third release in Live Action’s “Gendercide” project, documenting Planned Parenthood and NAF’s support for sex-selective abortion in America.

The footage shows two NAF members, Camelback Family Planning in Phoenix and the Tucson Women’s Center in Tucson, promising to ignore the law and perform a sex-selective abortion and coaching a woman to lie on official paperwork to conceal the illegal abortion.

When the woman purportedly seeking to abort her girl and try again for a boy explains this at the Camelback clinic, a counselor named Barb advises, “Don’t tell us that, because we don’t want to know.” Referring to the clinic’s abortion doctor, Gabrielle Goodrick, Barb says, “You can tell her, she’s gonna tell you the same thing, just: Don’t let it be down! She’s really good about that. You’ll like that about her.”

At the Tucson clinic, the surgical assistant Francisco tells the woman, “We could lose our license,” but agrees to cover-up her sex-selective abortion. “I’ll just forget about it,” he says, “But just be sure not to mention it” to the abortion doctor–“Don’t even mention it to him.”

NAF is the professional trade group for abortion doctors and clinics in the U.S. and Canada. Many NAF board members are current or former Planned Parenthood officials, and Planned Parenthood representatives frequently play a prominent role at NAF annual meetings.

Sex-selective abortion is a felony in Arizona. No one may knowingly perform a sex-selective abortion in Arizona, or solicit or accept money to do so. Live Action has sent the full footage from the Arizona clinics to the state Attorney General, Tom Horne, and to local law enforcement.

Live Action president Lila Rose urges Arizona authorities to enforce the state’s sex-selection ban: “Sex-selective abortion is a global search-and-destroy mission against little girls that is spreading at an alarming rate. While we wait for Congress to pass the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act to ban sex-selective abortion in the U.S., state authorities should vigorously enforce Arizona’s law. The clinics supporting sex-selective abortion should be investigated, prosecuted, defunded, and delicensed immediately.”
